Hippie Dippie California Granola
Wednesday, October 20, 2004
It is required by law that all residents of California make their own granola. Here is the recipe.
mix in a big bowl
5 cups of oats
1 cup of walnuts (or whatever you have - almonds, pecans)
3/4 cups of wheat germ
1/2 cup of sesame seeds, sunflower seeds or any seeds of your choosing
1 cup of coconut
warm up in a small sauce pan until sugar dissolves - do not boil
3/4 cups of water
1/4 cup of canola oil (do not omit the oil unless you like to eat stones)
1 cup of brown sugar
1/3 cup of maple syrup or honey
1 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp nutmeg
Pour sauce over oat mixture
spread on cookie sheets and bake in a slow oven (275 degrees) stir every 1/2 hour until desired doneness
When cool add raisins or what ever you fancy.
