Greek Family Night

Tuesday, March 01, 2005

3_01_c
A big group from Canadians Abroad enjoys the meal and show.

3_01_d3_01_b(left) You go belly girl. (right) The man of the hour, Papa Cristo!

Last Thursday Andrew and I went to a family style Greek dinner at a restaurant called Papa Cristo’s. The evening included a four-course meal of all the Greek classics and some rather un-Greek entertainment—a belly dancer. The audience was encouraged to participate along with the entertainment and proved to be as amusing as the dancer. No, I couldn’t convince the old man to go up and shake his booty, but I tried!

Unlike, the good ol’Ottawa days when going Greek was a weekly ritual, this was my first Greek dinner, since moving to the megatropolis.

I would have gotten up to dance! Belly dancing does come from Greece as well. When Lee & I were in Athens we saw a show with a belly dancer balancing a sword on her head & stomach. OPA! Lori
