“How camest thou in this pickle?” — William Shakespeare
It’s not just pickle week it’s International Pickle Week (May 16 to May 26)!
That’s right, you have ten action packed days to honour the tasty pickle. Honestly, did you really think a measly seven-day week would be enough to celebrate the world’s funniest condiment! Sweet, sour, hot, mmmm it’s all good—I could live on pickles. Just ask my mom-in-law.
For a quick pickle fix: Adapted from Canadian living Magazine (May 2005)
In a bowl, toss 2 cups of thinly sliced English cucumber with 1/2 tsp of salt; let stand for 15 minutes, then drain and rinse. Add 1 tbsp white vinegar or what ever kind you like; 1 tsp each sugar and sesame oil; (optional) 1/2 tsp hot pepper flakes; mix it up; eat it up.
