Not Shy Enough to Stay Away

A few months back I read on Danny Gregory's blog an interesting piece about a group called The Drawing Club. I was especially pleased because this club meets every week a mere five miles from my home. This awesome group offers a workshop every Thursday night and one Sunday a month that involves a character model interpreting a theme. Artist models with costumes on and yah get to draw them-oh what fun. I love this idea and it only makes sense in a town full of animators and out-of-work actors.
Although I was excited about going I was intimidated by the level of talent oozing from their web site. It took me few month to get my moxie up and go. I have to say I felt painfully shy and I didn't move from my seat the whole evening, let alone talk to anybody aside from the man taking the money. I hadn't felt that shy in years, but I know it lurks in me and it does show up from time to time. Aside from the paralyzing bout of shyness, I did have fun and the evening was everything I expected it to be. I'm not happy with my tight awkward drawings, but I look forward to seeing some improvement in the months to come.
