I Didn't Know it was David Hockney

I bought this postcard a few years back during my one and only visit to Southern California's Getty Center. Although, I didn't see the piece in the museum the image of the desert appealed to me more than anything else I saw that day. At the time, I was not familiar with the artist and his name did not stick in my pea brain. I just liked the postcard—I was even briefly inspired to head out to the Mohave Desert to capture a similar image of my own. Bah, but you know how it is, ideas can get lost in the paper shuffle of life and the postcard and my plan were soon forsaken. That is until last weekend when big A and I saw the soon-to-depart David Hockney Portraits exhibit at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA). Although I didn't see the desert montage, I did see some similar portrait photomontages when it clicked that I had come across this fellow's work before. Hmm I think I see a trip to the desert in my near future.
On another note the exhibit was also of special interest to me since I started going to the Drawing Club to draw people. Actually that's where I first read about the event. I'm hoping I picked up a few tips on how to draw noses and other various human anatomies. Well see this Thursday.
