The Art of Miniature Painting (Part 1) and the Master of Worry
Wednesday, January 16, 2008
Yesterday, I attended The Art of Miniature Painting ( Part1) a studio workshop held at The Getty Museum. I went with a friend from yoga class on her suggestion and her enthusiasm for art history. Just before the event I started to worry that the subject matter wouldn’t interest me and that I would be a bored. I always have to worry before I do anything new because that’s just the way I am. You can ask my husband he’ll tell you this is so. Anyway to make a long story short I wasted my good worrying skills for nothing because the workshop was incredibly interesting and I was not bored for one moment. Although, I was a little tired because I was up Monday night worrying.
Our matrials to make a miniature painting just like the medieval artists. Well not exactly, our materials were of the sissy lead-free variety.
The first step is the underpainting. It looks a little rough, but hopefully it will improve as new layers of paint are applied. Although I suspect my paint was a tad thick. Oh well, being perfect, something I don’t actually worry about.
